Microblading & Microshading

Our Microblading & Microshading procedures in Nairobi are Semi-Permanent techniques used to enhance or fully reconstruct eyebrows. Microblading is done by implanting pigment into the skin’s dermis, giving a natural, final look.

Microblading (also known as eyebrow embroidery or permanent makeup eyebrows) can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrows. It is a great option for individuals who want to enhance their brows, e.g., people whose eyebrows have thinned due to aging, over-tweezing, or have little to no eyebrows from birth.

Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color. Your skin tone is also taken into consideration. This technique is recommended for dry to normal skin only. Eyebrows always heal 60-80% lighter.

Microblading FAQ

Microshading is an advanced semi-permanent technique that adds density and color to eyebrows, giving a make-up look. It can be combined with microblading for clients with oily skin for a natural look or for clients with little to no hair who want fuller eyebrows.

Powder brows is microshading only. A needle and a machine insert pigments into the top layer of the dermis to create microdots which a powdery effect on the eyebrows. This technique is suitable for all skin types. It has great retention and requires less touch ups. Eyebrows heal 80-90% lighter.

Microblading procedures conducted at the Medi spa our are painless. This is because we have our different methods of numbing using lidocaine as a base. Lidocaine injection numbs the skin almost immediately. The skin around the eyebrows remains numb for up to 2 hours.

Topical lidocaine cream can be used to numb the skin. It is applied 45 minutes before the procedure and lasts for the same period of time.

Secondary lidocaine gel/spray – Once the first step of microblading and microshading is completed, the numbing gel is applied on the broken skin and left for 2-5 minutes to numb the skin further, reducing bleeding and swelling.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal but will gradually subside.

For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 1.5-2 hours. During this session, the brow technician will shape and style the client’s brows for client approval. This is followed with pigment color selection. Once the client is satisfied with the choices, the procedure begins.

We use the LI organic pigments. 3 to 4 pigments are mixed to create the perfect blend for each individual client. A client’s natural skin complexion, hair color and undertone help determine the pigments to be used.

A modifier is always added to the blend to make sure the eyebrows heal in the right shade and maintain the color for the 2-3 years duration. We also use a pigment seal to ensure maximum retention once the eyebrows heal. Modifiers can also be used to color correct previous semi-permanent procedures done elsewhere that changed color after healing or aging.

We use stainless steel u and slanted blades for microblading. For microshading we have different needles 1R, 3R and 5R that we use.

For microblading we use a handheld tool to attach the blade and create hair like strokes whereas for microshading we use an electrical/battery powered machine to create the microdots.

The technician uses your natural eyebrow and face shape. You will have a few minutes to look at the shape, share with friends and ask for feedback. Once you are content, the procedure begins.

The technician offers a patch test to test for any allergic reaction to the products used during the procedure. This is observed for 72 hours and reviewed after that.
