What is Physiotherapy and Sports Massage?

We aim to promote wellness, mobility and independent function of your body systems, treating and preventing injury or illness.

Sports massage therapy helps to alleviate stress and tension that builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur due to overexertion and/or overuse, deep tissue massage can relieve the painful symptoms quickly and effectively. It can help prevent niggling injuries that get in the way of performance and achievement, whether you are an athlete, a regular recreational sportsperson or a once-a-week runner.

Sports Physiotherapy & Massage FAQS

Our physiotherapists are highly trained medical experts in human anatomy and movement, able to positively influence our locomotive system, the way we breathe, sit and move in our daily lives.

We maximize your health potential and minimise strains and stress to your body by:

  • Assessing your level of mobility, strength and endurance
  • Diagnosing your condition and developing a treatment plan to restore pain free movement, reduce limitations and pain
  • Prescribe and demonstrate therapeutic exercises
  • Monitor your progress and adjust treatment accordingly
  • Advice on how to manage your condition and prevention of recurring problems

All treatments aim to reduce pain, restore function and prevent recurrence of the problem. Physiotherapists can treat a wide range of conditions:

  • Back & Neck Pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Sciatica
  • Joint Problems
  • Ligament & Tendon Injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Muscular Sprains and Strains
  • Sports Injuries
  • Achilles Tendon problems
  • Rotator cuff injury

Interventions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual patient:

Sports massage is not limited to just sports people, most people can benefit from it: a sedentary lifestyle limits range of movement and strength, while physically demanding jobs can cause occupational and postural stress which mimic sports-injury symptoms like Back & Neck Pain, Shoulder pain, Joint Problems, Ligament & Tendon Injuries.

The Sports massage treatment protocol follows the Myofascial Release technique for overuse and acute injury management. Gentle sustained pressure onto the myofascial connective tissue girdle aims to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain by relaxing contracted muscles.
